POETRY GLOSSARY
The purpose of this assignment is to complete the glossary below on the following terms that we will be studying during our poetry unit. You will use this guide to study from for your final test.

A songlike poem that tells a story similar to a folk tale or legend and often has a repeated refrain
·
Two consecutive lines of poetry that form a unit, often emphasized by rhythm or rhyme
·
Repetition of the same or similar initial consonant sound
·
A figure of speech in which extreme exaggeration is used for emphasis
·
A poem (such as a sonnet or ode) that expresses the thoughts and feelings of the speaker and has a musical quality
·
The pattern made by the rhyme within each stanza or verse
·
The repetition or pattern of the same vowel sounds
·
Continuation of a sentence from one line or stanza to the next without any punctuation
·
Repetition of the final consonant sounds at close intervals
·
A 14 line lyric poem divided into three quatrains and one couplet
·
