THEME
Works in this show may be executed in 2D or 3D, and any medium, any technique (excluding photography).
Explore the human nude form, using line, form, texture, light, shadow, design, depth, tone, pattern, and color. One may abstract the human form, interpret its many structures and present this work for display in the ARTS LEAGUE main gallery.
ELIGIBILITY
NAKED is open to all artists working in any medium except photography. 2D and 3D works are eligible. Members and non-members of ALL are welcome to enter works in this show. Submitted work must not have been shown previously at the Arts League of Lowell Gallery. Student work done under direct supervision is not eligible.
WORK REQUIREMENTS
Artists may enter works in ANY 2D or 3D visual arts medium except photography. 2D work must be framed or otherwise securely and professionally presented and wired to hang. No saw-tooth or keyhole hangers accepted. Failure to abide by these hanging requirements will result in the immediate rejection of your work for this exhibition. Works on paper must be under glass (or plexiglass if shipped). Work over 40 pounds and work requiring special installation or handling must be installed by the artist with The Arts League of Lowell curatorial staff. Installation proposals will also be considered; installations must be set up by the artist with The Arts League of Lowell curatorial staff. ENTRY SUBMISSIONS
Up to 3 pieces may be submitted for entry. We will accept up to three pieces per artist, with the understanding that, depending upon space restrictions and curatorial review, we may not be able to hang all three submissions. You will be informed if you need to pick up any pieces that did not fit into the exhibit.
All work will be reviewed for exhibit suitability and response to the show theme. Please keep in mind that our gallery is family friendly.
ENTRY FEE
Arts League of Lowell members in good standing - $25.00 for up to 3 works. ALL members are required to sign up for one shift in the gallery. The shift does not have to be during this show.
NEW! Members who do not wish to honor their gallery sitting obligation for this show may pay the non-member entry fee of $40 and pay the 40% commission on any work sold.
Non-members of The Arts League of Lowell - $40.00 for up to 3 works. Non-members are not required to gallery sit.
Non-member artists wishing to enter are heartily invited to join The Arts League of Lowell for an additional $45 annual membership fee. Pay the member entry fee ($25) and sign up for a shift in the gallery.
SALES
ALL takes a 25% commission on all artwork sold by members of ALL. ALL takes a 40% commission for non-member work sold. Artists are encouraged to show work that is for sale. Payment for work sold will be made no later than 15 days after the close of the exhibit.
VOLUNTEERING REQUIREMENTS
Exhibiting Arts League of Lowell member artists are required to sign up for and complete one shift of gallery sitting. You may check the gallery schedule at to see available shifts. Members will sign up to Gallery sit at drop off. Please bring your calendar. The Gallery stays in operation only because of the help of all participants. If, for any reason, you cannot fulfill your obligation to sit on the day to which you committed, please contact Roberta Bloom, , as soon as possible to arrange for a replacement and to sign up for another shift.
INSURANCE AND LIABILITY
Every reasonable precaution will be taken to ensure protection and careful handling of work. The Arts League of Lowell carries insurance to cover damage or loss while the art work is on our premises.
DELIVERY
Hand delivered work shall be delivered to The Arts League of Lowell Gallery, 307 Market St., Lowell, MA on Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 4-6 PM and/or Monday, January 8, 2018 from12:00 AM-2:00 PM . If you are unable to drop off at these times, arrangements MUST be made in advance by contacting Sharon Levy. The schedule is tight and late entries may not be accepted. Hand delivered work will be picked up on either February 11 from 4-6 PM or February12, 2018 from 12:00 -2:00 PM. We are unable to store work. Work left beyond the pickup dates is subject to a $5 per day holding fee.
SHIPPING
Artists are responsible for the cost of shipping to and from the exhibit.. Shipped work must arrive at The Arts League of Lowell Gallery 307 Market St., Lowell, MA 01852 by Saturday January 6, 2018. All shipped work must be in STURDY REUSABLE containers. Entry forms and fee must be included. Include a separate check to cover costs to ship unsold work back. If any or all work is sold, ALL will return the unused portion of your shipping check.
