Melton Town Centre Stage 3 opening

Melton City Council will this week unveil the third instalment of the Melton Town Centre upgrades.

Throughout 2017, Council has been busy with refurbishments along McKenzie St, Melton, to make the area more vibrant, safe and accessible.

Key features of the refurbishments include consolidated public car parking, pedestrian priority footpaths, upgraded and additional lighting, and additional street trees and garden beds.

A new civic lawn space has been created in front of the Melton Library and Learning Hub for anything from picnics to public events.

City of Melton Mayor, Cr Bob Turner, said the upgrades had helped rejuvenate the Melton Town Centre.

“The renovations will help make the Melton Town Centre come to life, while creating a vibrant and safe space for traders, locals and visitors to enjoy,” Cr Turner said.

“Now that Stage 3 is complete, the town centre is really shaping up to be aproud asset for the local community.”

The McKenzie St upgrades follow on from stages 1 and 2 which saw a taxi shelter constructed, and the Palmerston St precinct redeveloped.

Concept plans for future stages being Bakery and Wallace Square precincts are being finalised following a community consultation process.
