Studying and learning vocabulary helps you become a better reader and a better writer. With that in mind…

NOTICE WHAT YOU READ:

The first person to notice any of our vocabulary words (in any form: noun, verb, adjective, etc.) in one of our assigned readings (the essays, not the handouts I make for you) will receive one percentage point on either a formal writing assignment or a test (student’s choice) IF s/he is the first person to email me, tell me exactly where the words appears, and paraphrase/explain the sentence that the word appears in.

CHOOSE WHAT YOU WRITE:

Any student can receive up to five percentage points on a formal writing grade if s/he uses a new vocabulary word correctly in form, grammar, and meaning in an essay written for this class. One point per word, no recycled words during the quarter . Words must be bolded or highlighted to receive credit.
