Podcast Audio Recording
- Go to your designated recording space and log on to the computer provided.
- Insert your FLASH DRIVE in the computer.
- Locate and open the program AUDACITY. Get help as needed. Click “OK” for English.
- On the menu line, click onFILE and drag to “Save Project As. . .” Click “OK” in the Warning window. Direct the file to save on your FLASH DRIVEin your Podcast Folder. Name the file to reflect whatever project you are doing.
- Record your audio by using the recording buttons at the top of the screen (see illustration above).
Recording Tips
- Try to keep your recording to one or two audio “tracks.” Every time you hit the Stop button, a new track will be added when you record again.
- Instead of hitting Stop, click Pause. When you un-Pause, you will continue on the same track.
- As you record, be LOUD enough and speak SLOWLY!
- As soon as you have done any recording, go up to the menu line, click on FILE and drag to “Save Project“to be sure your project continues to save correctly to your Flash Drive.
- Once you have finished recording your audio and SAVED it, you can quit AUDACITY and move out of the recording area.
- Be sure to eject your FLASH DRIVE properly.
Saving Your Audio / Music as an MP3 File
- When you are satisfied with your audio / music combination (and have saved it to your FLASH DRIVE), from the menu line choose “Export As MP3”.
- You will get a window that says “Your track will be mixed down. . .” Click OK.
- In the next window, click on MY COMPUTER and locate your FLASH DRIVE. Open your Podcast folder.
- Give the MP3 file a name appropriate to your project. Click Save.
- You will get a window that says “Audacity does not export MP3 files directly. . .Would you like to locate lame_enc.dll now?” Click YES.
- In the next window, click on MY COMPUTER.
- Then double click on LOCAL DISK (C:)
- Double click PROGRAM FILES.
- Locate the LAME FOLDER (it may be listed alphabetically or be inside the Audacity folder). Get help to locate the folder. Once you have, open it to locate lame_enc.dll.
- Once you locate lame_enc.dll double click it.
- You will get a window titled “Edit the ID3 Tags for the MP3 File”. Just click OK.
- Your file will then export as an MP3 file.
- When the export is done, quit AUDACITY.
- If you open your FLASH DRIVE and open your Podcast Folder, you should see an MP3 file named for your project.
