Slapneck Creek at Samuelson Road (SN01) MiCorps Site Directions
This site is on Private Property owned by Bob Taylor and used with his permission. He should be contacted before any visits at 906-439-5632.
This site is accessed through a hay field and the landowner prefers if cars are left at the tree line and not driven on his field.
The road to this site is a well-maintained gravel road which should be accessible by any vehicle.
Start: N 46.34410, W086.89062
End: N 46.34436, W086.89173
If approaching from Chatham:
Follow Munising Street east from Chatham for 2 miles until you get to a Stop sign.
Left turn from Munising Street onto Finns Spur Road
From here, turn left onto Finns Spur Road and drive just 430 feet before you turn right onto Slapneck Road.
Right turn from Finns Spur Road onto Slapneck Road
Drive down Slapneck Road for just under one mile to the Stop sign at Samuelson Road. Take a right.
Right turn from Slapneck Road onto Samuelson Road
Drive just over ¼ mile down Samuelson Road until you reach the driveway for the site.
Take this driveway into the woods until you get to the hay field. Park at the edge of the trees.
The driveway is marked with a Private Property No Trespassing sign and is just to the right of a small cabin with a red metal roof.

This building is N 5197 Samuelson Road. Drive down the driveway to the right of the cabin until you reach a field. Park at the edge of this field and hike in several hundred yards to the stream entrance at N46.34441, W086.89107. The stream entrance will be on your left in the midst of a wall of trees and is marked by flagging, but it would be best to find it by GPS because it isn’t obvious.
If approaching from Munising:
Take right onto Samuelson Road from M-94, 13.5 miles West from M-28.
Right turn from M-94 onto Samuelson Road
Travel 1 mile to N 5197 Samuelson Road and follow above directions to site.
