Call to Order and Opening Remarks
•Barbara Creswell, Co-President, brought the meeting to order at 7:06 PM.
Principal’s Report
•Frank Rumford, Principal welcomed everyone and gave the Principal’s report:
▪Parents who attend the SSA meetings this year will receive a NUM card for their student (No Uniform Monday). Dress down guidelines are on the back of the card.
▪Thank you to the SSA for the staff luncheon in December by Appleton catering, everything was fantastic.
▪School Climate surveys were sent home, they can be completed on paper or online.
▪The next PBS incentive will be a trip to the 87ers basketball game on 2/7/17. The cost is $10 and 25 PAWS cards for the 1st 200 students.
▪Math Counts Team traveled to UD, they will have a competition later in the spring.
▪AVID parent meeting 1/19 at 6:30pm
▪Skyline’s back pack program is done in conjunction with the food bank of DE and provides food to children (K-12) in need for weekends and holidays when school is not in session. Back packs contain kid friendly nutritious food including shelf stable milk, juice, spaghetti and meatballs, apple sauce, cereal and more. Backpacks are distributed on the last day before a holiday to our students. Thank you to Kim Snyder and Kelly Thompson for making this happen at Skyline.
▪Choice Open house was well attended. Many good comments were overheard by visitors.
Guest Speakers
- New Castle County Police and Marie Allen presented information on Heroin addiction.
Treasurer’s Report
•Christy Grazer reviewed the cash flow and account balances as of 1/12/17.Jen Furman and Gretchen Shahan motioned to approve the budget.
Secretary
•Minutes from the November meeting were presented motioned and approved by Jen Furman and Gretchen Shahan.
Committee Activity Updates
AR Pool Party:
- This position is open and looking for chairperson(s). The date of the pool party is 6/1 or 6/2 (rain date).
Book Buddies:
- Nothing new to report.
Book Fair:
- Nothing new to report.
Dances:
- There will be one more 6thgrade dance this year 2/24. This will be a sixth and seventh grade dance.
Family Activities:
•Basketball game has been scheduled for February 16th.
Fundraising:
- Nothing new to report.
Product Incentives:
- Nothing new to report
Staff Appreciation:
•Souper Bowl staff luncheon was held. Thank you for all your donations!
8th Grade Memories Dance:
- Nothing new to report.
8th Grade Graduation:
- Nothing new to report.
New Business
- College Fair will be held in March 14, 2017 6:30 – 8:30 at John Dickinson High School.
- Strategic Plan for the new district goals holding public meetings to review goals - #3 meeting 1/18 @ Warner 5:30pm
- Sports Fundraiser will be held on 1/27/17 at Famous Johns Tavern in Pike Creek. This is an adult only event.
