This is an exciting role for an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist who wishes to develop their operational management and leadership skills within a community therapy setting. Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychologist in Paediatric Psychology

We are seeking a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to join our Paediatric Psychology Service. The post holder will offer a high quality specialist clinical psychology service to children and young people receiving care from Leicester Royal Infirmary. The remit of the Paediatric Psychology Service involves working with children and young people who have long term conditions, life-threatening conditions and conditions leading to disability. The role includes seeing patients referred into general clinics, working with and into specific speciality areas as needed and some inpatient work where appropriate.

The post holder will be based within the department of Paediatric Psychology but required to deliver services from Community Clinics and other settings as appropriate. We are a team of twelve and so supervision and training needs can be well provided for.

We are a specialist team within the large multi-disciplinary CAMHS in Leicester and have close links with the Department of Psychology at Leicester University. Library and research facilities are available and time is allocated for post qualification training.

The post holder will participate in the delivery of skilled autonomous nursing care to patients within their own home, including care at the end of life, wound management, medicines management and as appropriate, assisting the patient to develop self-management skills.

The community team provides a range of services to prevent un-necessary admission to hospital, to support early discharge home and to provide rehabilitation programs at home with the ultimate aim for most patients of independence and self-management. The team also works with the acute sector on admission avoidance and provides appropriate advice on discharge and the available supporting services.

The applicant must be someone with a strong commitment to working in an integrated manner within the community setting and supporting multi-disciplinary team development. You will have a proven ability to promote patient independence, a sound theoretical knowledge underpinning highly skilled assessment and nursing skills, demonstrate a flexible approach to patient care and be adaptable to new initiatives in a culturally diverse setting.
