MAINSPRAY ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY and STATEMENT
PURPOSE
Mainspray is committed to demonstrating responsible environmental leadership by providing a safe and healthy workplace, protecting the environment and conserving energy and natural resources. Mainspray seeks, at all times, to reduce environmental impact by identifying and minimising potential environmental risk and therefore minimising our environmental footprint. These guidelines and procedures indicateactions required to limit detrimental impacts on the environment.
SUPPORTING STATEMENT
In order to support the Mainspray Environmental Policy, Mainspray will:
- comply with all environmental laws, regulations and standards to promote best practise in environmental performance
- manage our activities to prevent or minimise pollution impacts on the natural environment, cultural and heritage sites and preserve biodiversity
- set, monitor and review environmental objectives and targets
- ensure understanding of environmental policy and requirements among employees including environmentally sensitive areas, rare flora sites and disease risk areas
- consider the environmental impact of its operations and ensure environmental controls are in place to prevent or minimise pollution from all sources
- strive to improve resource consumption efficiency, minimise carbon emissions and waste generation
- ensure best safety practise is maintained by employees in handling products
- minimise the impact of our work activities and products on the environment by disposing of waste according to regulation standards
- respect stakeholder opinion in the management of environmental issues

Mainspray is committed to reducing environmental impact by:
Minimising pollution and the consumption of fuel, energy and water
- Mainspray employs a mechanic who performs regular services on all vehicles (4WDs, trucks, mowers, ATVs). All aspects of vehicle use are recorded so as to determine any anomalies with fuel consumption and vehicle performance so as immediate action can be taken to rectify any faults.
- Employees are required to keep all vehicles clean and free of any debris which may affect optimum performance.
- Lights and other electrical items are switched off, in both the office and workshop, when not in use.
- Water tank is maintained. Any hose/pipe leakages rectified immediately.
- Native/water saving plants used in depot gardens.
Minimising our waste and recycle and reuse where possible
- Mainspray office recycles print cartridges, scrap paper and shredded paper. All files are reused following archiving of contents.
- Recycled rags are used in the workshop.
- All scrap metal is collected and sent for recycling.
- Work gloves are collected, washed and reused.
Disposing of waste with minimal environmental impact
- Any mixed chemical waste is collected in large tanks and removed from site and disposed of by an accredited firm.
- Old oil is stored and removed by an accredited oil removal company who recycles the oil.
- All solid waste is collected and removed by a reputable waste collection firm who recycle all waste products.
- Chemical drums are cleaned, following regulation standards, and removed from site using Drum Muster.
Safe handling and use of chemicals
- All employees are formally trained- Prepare and Apply Chemicals (RT 3794A) and Transport, Handle and Store Chemicals (RTC 3705A)
- Mainspray provides MSDS for all chemicals/hazard substances used by employees so as to ensure all substances are used safely.
- Appropriate PPE is provided for all spraying jobs.
- Spray equipment is regular calibrated so as to keep in optimum condition.
- Responsible spraying near waterways, bushland, revegetation sites, plantations and crops.
- Specific chemical used near waterways so as to eliminate any harm to aquatic life.
- No spraying in rare flora areas.
- Cleaning of chemical equipment of previously used chemical to eliminate a different class of chemical being used which may have an adverse effect on vegetation.
Maintainingappropriate emergency and spill response procedures
- All employees have been trained in workplace First Aid procedures.
- Employees trained in emergency procedures, e.g. chemical spills.
- Spill kits provided on each vehicle
Training, educating and informing our employees about environmental issues
- All Mainspray employees are trained in weed identification, chemical drift and climatic conditions most suitable for spraying.
- All Mainspray employees are informed about rare flora sites and ‘no spray’ areas and how to locate them.
Respecting stakeholder opinion in the management of environmental issues
- Mainspray prides itself on listening to and carry out client requests about any environmental issues.
- Mainspray endeavours to educate clients about its safe spraying practises.
