General Membership Meeting
December 9, 2014
Call to Order and Welcome
· Cary Westerbeck, Co-President, called the meeting to order at 6:34p.m. Notice was given and a quorum was present. All attendees made brief introductions. Cary gave a short explanation of the agenda.
Words from the School
· In the Principal's Message, Jesse Harrison spoke about items coming up for the end of the year, the mindfulness of coordinating special events and staying healthy during the flu season.
· In the Staff Liaison Report, Deb Henderson presented feedback from individual grade levels and what each grade was focusing on. 3rd grade students got a rare opportunity to visit the basement of the Burke Museum and sign a cast of a mammoth bone.
Special Presentation
· Natalie Bachiri, Co-President, and Jennifer West, Secretary, gave a presentation on Healthy Holiday Treats. They demonstrated and gave samples of simple desserts that are kid friendly.
General Membership Business
· Cary Westerbeck presented the minutes from the October 2014 General Membership meeting and asked for comments or proposed changes. There were none, and the minutes were approved as written.
· Treasurer, Amy Smith, gave the Treasurer’s Report: Cash as of 11/30/14 $46,220.00 (Checking $21,198 and Savings $25,022). November income was $347.00 and Expenses were $1000.00.
· Angela Cummings told us that Membership was doing great and we were at 327 members.
· Cary spoke about the Nominating Committee, as elections will be held in April. Sammie Schultz and Tiffany Wintermute were sworn into the Nominating Committee, with Angela Cummings and Jamie Almond as Alternates. Angela made a motion and it was passed.
· Sammie Schultz gave an update on the Legislative Report. She highlighted the upcoming Focus Day in Olympia.
Other News
· Amy Smith told us of an upcoming meeting, the Northshore School District Reconfiguration (February), and would like to have a group of parents represent our school.
· Rose Chapman, from Kenmore Jr. High PTA, told us about a “Bricks” fundraiser, a recycling event and a Bingo fundraiser coming up.
· Natalie Bachiri discussed SEPAC (Special Education Parent/Professional Advisory Council) and how we would like to include them in a spring meeting.
Committee Reports & Announcements
· Reflections Update: Jenny Wang, Co-Vice President, spoke for Julie Trott, who was not present. There were 8-10 entries from Arrowhead. A reception will be held on January 9th at Eastside Foursquare Church.
· Directory Updates: Jenny Wang spoke for Stacy Drake, who was not present, and told us that the Directory was at the printer and would be delivered soon.
· Open Positions: Jenny Wang mentioned that the Talent Show is still in need of a Chair, and if one is not found by March, the event would be cancelled. The Hawk Walk position has been filled.
· Missoula Children’s Theater: Jennifer Garnick gave an update. Registration is due by January 9th, it will be a full and fun week. The Directors of the show have been housed and the show is January 17th.
· Whipstitch Sewing: Jenny Wang spoke for April Rose, who was not present, and mentioned that the 6 week session starts in January.
· Lego Club: Erin Person spoke for Jamie Almond, also not present, and gave a quick update. The 9-week session starts in February and will fill quickly.
· Holiday Art Workshop: Jenny Wang told us the event dates (December 10th and 17th) and the classes had a good registration list.
· Science on the Half-Day: Angela Cummings discussed the event schedule, which includes a Mad Science demonstration by the Pacific Science Center. She also discussed the Science Fair, in which Invent Washington will be incorporated, which is an invention competition. More information will be available soon.

· December 17th- Newsletter deadline for January distribution.
· December 20-January 4- NO SCHOOL. Holiday break.
· January 5th- School resumes

· January 13th- PTA meeting (City of Kenmore on Target Zero Initiative)
· January 15th- Whipstitch Sewing Club begins
