Dear Georgia,

This letter is in response to your recent letter summarizing the DOE site visit to WPI on February 20 and 21 of this year. Its intent is merely to suggest minor detailed changes in the report as well as to indicate its overall acceptability. In general, I found the document extremely consistent with the discussions and results of the site visit in February.

Changes we would suggest would be as follows:

page 1, in the paragraph under "Initial Licensure Program", the last sentence needs a period.

page 1, under "Program components", "Coursework", the course title for "Cross-cultural Psychology" needs a capital C on cultural.

page 1 under "Prepracticum", the word "credit" should be inserted before "hour" in the first sentence i.e. "3-hour" becomes "3 credit hour".

page 1, the very last sentence should be appended with "such as the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the Professional Standards for Teachers." to provide increased clarity.

page 2 under "Practicum" the first sentence should have "credit" inserted between 9 and hour..

page 2 under "Practicum" the last sentence should be appended to include

" , including emphasis on the Professional Standards."

page 2 under "Strengths", the first bulleted item needs a period after "faculty" at the end

page 2, the second bulleted item needs an additional double quotation mark after "Associates".

page 2, very last bulleted item should be appended with " , ID 3100".

page 3 very first bulleted item should have "K-12" before "outreach".

page 3 under "Recommendations", the second bulleted item should have the word "out" removed.

I have enclosed a copy of the document with these changes indicated.

Beyond that, we hope you will be able to soon write to President Parrish and Commissioner Driscoll so that we may finish the application up and receive formal approval.

In a separate letter, I have written to you regarding our desire to approve working teachers for Initial Licensure as a Route 2 site, as we had discussed during the site visit in February. We wish to treat that as an independent matter and thus not have it inhibit our Route 1 application and approval.

We eagerly look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

John Goulet, PhD
