Origin and Objectives

St. Xavier's College is ideally situated on the enchanting banks of river Periyar. The College is functioning under the management of the Congregation of Teresian Carmelites (CTC) and is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam. This Educational Institution started functioning on 6th July 1964 with four batches of Pre-Degree classes with a total strength of 238 students and 22 members of the Teaching Staff. It was raised to the status of a Degree College in 1968. It now offers Degree Courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Zoology (V), Economics, Malayalam, English Literature, Communicative English and Commerce. Post Graduate Courses in Commerce, Physics, English, Microbiology and Malayalam started in 1984, 1998, 2001, 2014 and 2015 respectively.

As a temple of learning St. Xavier’s has 52 years of glorious history. It upholds the noble ideals of education to carry on the mission and vision of our Mother Foundress, Rev. Mother Eliswa and our Heavenly Patron St. Francis Xavier. St. Xavier's aims at the formation of young women enabling them to live a richer life, fulfilling their individual and social responsibilities. Every young woman with a receptive mind, finds her life in the campus a rewarding and stimulating experience. ADMISSION NORMS

-  Application for admission (Community, Management, Cultural, Sports and Physically Disabled Quota) should be submitted through online process availa the college website. The link will soon appear after result publication of qualifying exams.

-  Selection of candidates will be made on the basis of merit, conduct and character.

-  Merit lists and dates of interview will be published on the College notice board/ College website. Interview cards will be sent by post.

-  Applicants, who are being favorably considered, will be called for interview. The applicant accompanied by her parent/guardian is to report to the Principal for interview and produce the records called for.

-  NCC/NSS students will get bonus marks of 15 for admission to Degree Course and five marks for PG admission. Holders of ‘B’ & ‘C’ certificates of N.C.C are entitled to an additional grace mark of 1.6, 2.0 respectively. Children of Ex-Service men are entitled to 15 marks bonus for admission to Degree Course.

-  A handicap of 5 marks for every successive attempt after the first attempt to pass the qualifying examination will be imposed.

-  Those selected for admission will be intimated. Admission process will be complete on payment of the first installment of fees and submission of the necessary records.

Note:-

-  Fee concession will be available only if annual income is up to `1,00,000/- for Degree and P.G. Programme.

-  Note down your APPLICATION NUMBER for easy reference.

-  Pass certificates once submitted, will not be returned to the student except when leaving the College. In extraordinary cases, students may borrow them for a short period on special application after paying the fee due. Students are advised to keep attested copies of pass certificates.

-  Parents and guardians shall accept all the regulations prevailing in the College. They are recommended to visit the College at least once in a term to ascertain the progress of the student in the College.
