How different is it during the exams periods?

Lectures stops a week prior to exams and one week is always given as a reading week.

Library work during exams, it varies for all students depending on how much a student made extensive reading and research.

Internet research; this is where we all students do extensive research base on a given courses and also when the professors gives us assignments.

Group work stops a week prior to a reading week

Practicals;there are no practicals during exams period

  • Debates; this includes inter colleges debates, intra universities debates where we had motions like

“Is multiethnicity a curse or blessing”,

“Bad peace is as good as no peace” for inter colleges

And “Is peace everyone’s responsibility” for intra university debate that was between University of juba verses Catholic University

The importance of debates includes;

Teaches students public speaking

Teaches students how to be articulate or eloquent

Teaches students how to be a good orator

Debate is the method for Improving critical thinking and creativity

Debates should be conducted once a week for the period of one semester.

During exams the debates stops 2 weeks prior to reading week.

  • Assignments keep students busy with a lot of concentration on their books, library and internet.

Assignments should be given throughout after every chapter in order to keep the mindsets of students busy with books. That is to say three assignments in a week.

During exams, assignments should stop one week prior to reading week for exams.

3. Apart from your university work, what other demands do youhave on your time in typical week (such as other private and professional commitments)?

  • Sports; I play football thrice a week for only 2 hours. That’s 6 hour a week.

The importance of sports includes;

Positive thinking

Health (body fitness)

  • Social commitments; for example community gatherings, weddings cultural days, wrestling and traditional dance. These are always carried out over the weekend.
  • The importance of this; is that it let students know and stick with their social norms and values.
