Meeting Minutes
September 10, 2011
President Molly Bjornsen called the meeting to order at 9:05am. The meeting was held at Washington High School in room 128. Thirty people were in attendance.
Executive Committee Reports
Secretary – The minutes of the May 2011 were approved.
Treasurer –Susan Russell presented the PTA budget. The increase in dues for the state PTA was discussed and the motion to increase the dues was approved. The treasurers’ report was approved.
Staff Comments
Mr. Dean Blanchard, Counseling Dept. Chair circulated and reviewed the attached September Counseling Update for PTA. He discussed the WHS class drop policy. Mr. Duer will again be doing ACT prep classes for upcoming testing. The counselors’ college tour this year will be to the New England area. Jen Byers will again take the lead on the joint PTA, counseling wellness program. For further dates and details please see the attached counselors update.
Dr. Ralph Plagman, Principal, introduced seven new teachers and counselors at Washington High School.

Committee Reports
Post Prom –No report
Cookie Sales – Next cookie sale is Thursday October 27th from 7:30 – 11:30.
Blue Chip/Membership – We currently have 132 members. Donations are down slightly this year as compared to last year at this time.
Grounds – Currently looking for someone to chair this committee. Also need more volunteers. Contact Lori Klopfenstein ()
Hospitality – Teacher Conferences on October 5, 10, and 12. Need food donations for teachers during the conferences. Please contact JoDee Anderson () or Pam Westrom () if you can help with this.
Trophy Display Cases – Need someone to chair this committee.
Volunteer Coordinator – Turn in volunteer hours to Darcy Rouse-Traut (). If volunteering at WHS make sure you have filled out a yellow volunteer card for this school.
School Cents - Need a person or a few people to share in taking care of this responsibility. This program usually raises at least $600 for the PTA.
New Business
Renate Bernstein, WHS Librarian, indicated a need for volunteers to work at the WHS Book Fair which will be October 5 – 10. There are a few time options to choose from. Please contact Renate at for more information.
Tyler Walker and Christine Le and several students from IJAG presented information on a fundraiser and walk to support the states IJAG programs. An email on this was sent out earlier this month. Donations can be made online at www.ijag.org. Karen Allen is currently a PTA member that volunteers with the IJAG program. She will speak on October 3. For more information on anything concerning IJAG contact Tyler Walker at .
The meeting was adjourned at 10:45am. The next meeting will be held October 11, 2011 at 9:00am at Washington High School in room 128.
