Minutes of a meeting of the Events Committee held on 18th November 2014 at 10.00am at the Parish Council Office, 12 High Street

There were no declarations of interest.

26.  To Confirm and sign of Minutes of previous meetings held on 29th OCTOBER 2014

RESOLVED minutes of the meeting, detailed above, are confirmed and signed as a true record by Cllr Rogers, Chairman.

27.  TO RECEIVE A REPORT IN REGARD TO REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE/PARADE/POPPY APPEAL

The event was well attended and positive comments have been received.

Cllr Woodhouse commented that she had felt the wreath laying to be slightly rushed and advised that she has received comment in regard to the Bishop Beveridge Choir song choice their being not sombre enough for the occasion. Cllr J Rodgers had received comment to the contrary.

It was agreed to write a letter of thanks to the Pipers and the Bugler.

Further to discussion it was agreed that additional investigation is required with regard to the road closure/signage and marshalling and agreed to include this as an agenda item at the next meeting.

Cllr Goater will be collecting in the poppy appeal boxes imminently.

28.  TO CONFIRM ARRANGEMENTS/ASSOCIATED COSTS FOR THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON – 6TH DECEMBER

·  Cllr J Rodgers confirmed that 36 stalls are booked to date, an increase on the previous year.

·  Clerk to arrange attendance of first aiders

·  Nicky Morgan MP has confirmed her attendance. It was agreed to invite Nicky to switch-on the lights

·  Advertisement banners to be erected at entrances to the village on receipt.

Cllr J Rodgers advised of the entertainment programme

In regard to the road closure it was agreed/confirmed as follows:

·  Additional ‘Road ahead closed at High Street and Church Street’ sign to be erected at Nottingham Road/Fishpool roundabout. LCC install early warning signs at entrances during the week before the event

·  Marshals rota is in progress and a good response is received so far.

It was agreed to take part in Holy Trinity Church Christmas Tree Festival.

29.  STREET MARKET – TO PLAN FOR SUMMER EVENT TO BE HELD SUNDAY 5 JULY 2015

It was agreed that the appointment of Ophelia Marshall is confirmed in writing.

30.  DATE OF NEXT MEETING – 7TH JANUARY 2015 at 10.00am
