Orientation
Place the phone in front of you so that the handset is on the left hand side, and the circular SOS and M1/M2 buttons are at the top.
Front
On the front of the phone, on the left hand side, is where the handset sits on the phone. On the top edge is crescent shaped recess with a rectangular button within it. This is the receiver cradle and is where the earpiece end of the handset rests, when not in use.
Along the bottom edge of the recess is a small rectangular hook with raised lines; this is the receiver hook and can be pulled upwards to hold the handset in place, if you’re attaching the phone to a wall.
Next you’ll find a smooth rectangular recess with the numbers one to zero printed on a white sheet underneath a clear plastic cover; this can be used to write the phone numbers of ten contacts for quick viewing.
Below this are three circular buttons in a row. The first black button, printed with the letter R, is the flash button. Moving to the right, the second circular button, printed with an arrow pointing to the right within a diamond shaped symbol, is the set button.
The third button which is red in colour, is the volume boost.
Below these three buttons is a single, lozenge shaped button printed with two circles; this is the redial button.
Along the bottom edge on the left hand side is a smaller, shallower recess which is where the mouthpiece end of the handset rests when not in use.
Moving to the right hand side and starting at the top, you’ll find a rectangular recessed area with SOS, M1 and M2 printed on white backing with a clear plastic cover; this can be used to write your SOS and two memory button numbers which correspond to the buttons below.
Just below this are four buttons in a row. Starting on the left these buttons are:
- Black button with an arrow pointing to the right and a white dot – Quick dial
- Red button with SOS – the SOS button
- Green button printed with M1 – memory 1 direct dial
- Green button printed with M2 – memory 2 direct dial
Just below these buttons is the numbers keypad.
Starting at the top, these buttons are:
- Row one: number one; number two (also letters A, B and C); number three (also letters D, E and F)
- Row two: number four (also letters G, H and I); number five (also letters J, K and L); number six (also letters M, N and O)
- Row three: number seven (also letters P, Q and R); number eight (also letters T, U and V); number nine (also letters W, X, Y and Z)
- Row four: star (*); number zero; hash (#)
Just to the left of the star key is a small LED; when this is lit it indicates that the volumes boost is on.
In the bottom right hand corner is a red, plastic area which is the incoming call indicator light.
Back
On the back of the phone are four rubber feet which sit in each of the four corners.
Just to the right of the foot in the top left corner, and running down the phone, is a recessed channel; you can run the phone cable through this channel to help it sit better in a table or when attached to a wall.
To the right of the channel are a series of circular recesses – these are used to hold the phone on the wall and are where the screws would sit.
Left edge
On the left hand edge is a square recess; this is where the handset connects to the base of the phone.
Right edge
Along the right edge are three slide switches. Starting with the switch at the top, these are:
- Ringer control
- Tone control
- Volume control
Top edge
Place the phone so that the back edge is facing towards you.
Towards the left hand side is a slide switch; this is the flash time control. Just to the right of this is a square recessed area. This is the telephone jack socket.
