A new year is here – new to start new things, new to make old things better, new to make right that which was wrong, and new to lend a hand where it is needed.

v Not much happens this time of year, but it is time to start preparations for the upcoming 2017 show. It will be here before any of us realize it, so the earlier we get started and the more we get done early, the better.
o Emphasis on sponsors and ads is a prime area of focus, particularly tee-shirt sponsors. They need to be nailed down very soon.
o The Show Committee will be meeting regularly on the 3rd Thursday of every month to get ready for the show. Everyone’s help is welcomed and encouraged.
v Remember, 2017 membership dues are to be paid as of January 1.
o These monies provide the working capital for our club, everything from stamps and envelopes for newsletters, to initial printing of both tee-shirts and programs.
o Being up-to-date on membership dues is also a prerequisite to the use of a reserved spot during the show.
o Tim Hollar and Butch McIntyre are still overseeing the collection of dues. You can pay them at the monthly meetings, at Hollar Tractor, or Sig’s Tire, or you can send your $20 check to the club’s mailing address (below).
v As far as the projects at the fairgrounds go:
o We should soon see concrete poured under the General Store lean-to and walk-way formed to the Store. Of course, this is weather permitting.
o A quote for the sawmill shed renovations had been obtained, but, due to health issues with the contractor, we’re having to go another route. We’ll keep you updated.
v We’d like to extend kudos and congratulations to one of our members: Butch Fox. He shared with us a very good 6-page article about his rare Mayrath tractors in the May/June 2016 issue of Vintage Tractor Digest. One is also on the January page of the 2017 Classic Garden Tractors Calendar.

------A prayer for the new year ------
Gracious and merciful Heavenly Father, we come to you with humble and thankful hearts, thankful, first of all, for the ability to come directly into your throne room and that because Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ is at your side interceding and mediating for us.
We thank you for sending your Son to redeem us from sin, death, and the power of the devil and bring us into your household. We thank you for your written Word by which you communicated to us your Truth and continue to speak with us. We thank you for your Spirit you have placed within us to teach and guide us daily.
We come to you knowing that you hear us and care for us and desire to provide for us.
We pray, not for ourselves, but for our children and grandchildren, that no harm comes to them, but that they grow to be wonderful men and women who know and honor you.
We pray for our country, for our leaders and all who are in authority, that their decisions and actions are righteous so we can continue living in the peace and the freedom we enjoy so we can continue to worship you and speak your name freely and openly.
We pray for our loved ones and friends, that each and every one will come to know you more intimately as the days go by.
And lastly, we pray for ourselves, that our words and actions will bring glory to you.
We look forward to this year being a wonderful year because you are there for us lighting our path and guiding our feet. Yet we look for something far greater. We look for that day soon to come, when your trumpet will sound and our Lord will return to gather all of us to himself and so shall we ever be with you in glory.
