Tasmanian Human Rights Week

International Human Rights Day is celebrated across the world on 10December. It commemorates the day on which the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was made in 1948.

Tasmania is the only state in Australia that holds a whole week of activities to celebrate and raise awareness of human rights and responsibilities. It has occurred in the first week of December since 1984.

The week involves a launch, human rights awards, a rally and a number of other events put on by a wide range of organisations.
