Summer 2016 Grant Program
Request for Proposals
As a participant in the UWS Women and Science Opening Workshop in October 2015, you are invited to submit a proposal for a summer grant for UWS instructors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM). These grants are intended to support the efforts of UWS faculty to incorporate gender-friendly student-active pedagogies into one of their courses.
Grant Award Objective
Priority will be granted to course redesign projects that meet the mission of the UW System Women and Science Program.
Eligibility
· Attended the October 2015 Opening Workshop for new faculty in STEM. Priority will be given to educators new to the UW System.
· Will be able to complete the curriculum project over the Summer 2016 term.
· Will be able to share the results of your project work with the Women Science Program and other appropriate forums.
Guidelines/Notes
· Proposal Form is attached and must be completed, including a one-to-two page project description.
· Deadline is December 1, 2015.
· Grant award is $1200.
· Two awards will be made following review by a committee formed from the Women and Science Program Advisory Board which has representatives from all UW System Institutions.
· The grant is awarded as salary dispersement to your payroll account. Half of the grant is awarded as 2016 summer salary ($600), with the remainder dispersed following an August 16, 2016 progress report.
· This grant is paid from the UW System Women and Science Program 102 Fund. Please follow your campus process for grant submission.
Selection Criteria
· Significance of the proposed course reform.
· Dedication demonstrated to the reform project.
· Plan for assessment of success of the reforms.
· Dissemination plan to report results and outcomes to the Women and Science Program and other appropriate forums.
· Campus location. Attempts will be made to support educators on different campuses.
