Here’s the “snow” scoop:

Plumas Sierra Nordic Foundation is excited to announce that our 501 (c)(3) nonprofit status has just been approved by the State of CA!

Thanks to Rob Young at Grizzly Ranch Golf Course (near Lake Davis)we have a wonderful facility in which to operate the Grizzly Ranch X-Country Ski Center (name still to be determined). Glenn Jobe, former Olympic Biathlete and former manager of Tahoe Donner X-Country recently toured the area and gave Grizzly Ranch a “2-thumbs up!”

A new Ginzugroomer, roller and tracksetter from Yellowstone Track Systems, Inc. is ready and waiting for the snow to fall.

The Ginzugroomer is currently sitting atop the newly acquired snowmobile trailer.

A 2011 Ski-Doo Skandic Super Wide Track V-800 has been ordered from Tom’s Snowmobile in Sierra City.

Talks are underway with reps from Fisher and Rossignol for the rental program (skis, boots, poles, etc).

Our Mission:

Plumas Sierra Nordic Foundation’s mission is to: develop, promote and expand Nordic recreation opportunities and education programs for all ages, skill levels, disabilities and incomes in Plumas County and the surrounding areas by (including but not limited to):

facilitating participation in competitive Nordic recreation events through

sponsorship of a youth Nordic ski team as well as development of local

competitive events for all ages, skill levels, disabilities and incomes;

promoting Nordic recreation as a fun, family oriented, environmentally

friendly, mentally and physically health-beneficial activity through clinics,

lessons, workshops and non-competitive community Nordic events;

facilitating the development, improvement, management, and maintenance of

existing and future Nordic recreation facilities residing on public and/or

private land in Plumas county and the surrounding area;

and development, improvement, management, and maintenance of existing

and future, Nordic skiing trail systems, residing on public and/or private land,

in the Plumas-Sierra area along with trail map publishing as needed.

Opportunity to learn/enjoy a life-long activity with family and friends.

Local elementary, middle and high school students will have the opportunity to learn Nordic skiing with the intention of forming a local Nordic Ski Team.

Obtain donationsfrom local organizations and individuals in order to pay for equipment and operations.

Apply for grants.

Obtain a rental fleet of skis, bindings, boots, poles and snowshoes.

Continue marketing.

Develop a website.
