Class Rules
Class Rules
- Respect – Be respectful of teachers and others as well as yourself
- Be on Time – (This does not mean walking in as the bell rings. Be in your seat and ready to go.) Tardiness means detention. – if you’re late bring a pass and sign in!
- Be prepared for class – appropriate course work, writing utensils (Students will not be allowed out of class to get them.)
- Write legibly – illegible writing will be considered a zero. Even on tests!
- Make up all work missed within 2 class days (lab make up rules on next page). Be responsible for yourself because teacher will not be hunting you down for missed work.
- NO Cheating – if caught cheating, it will result in a zero and detention (this means labs also!)
- Late Lab write-ups will be an academic zero: however, students will still be responsible for doing the write-up for credit towards the regents. – labs are not accepted for regents credit after the end of the five week marking period.
- Ask clarifying questions – PARTICIPATE in all discussions! It is how you will learn.
- Grades are determined by the following:
Tests: 15%Labs: 30%Participation: 25% Course work: 20%Quizzes: 10%
Lab Rules
- RESPECT – It is imperative to keep in mind that the organisms we dissect were once alive and must be treated as so.
- Follow safety procedures:
If a student is misbehaving in the lab, the following consequences will occur…
1st Time Offender: Student will be sent to the office and detention will be assigned to make up the missed lab.
2nd Time Offender: A parent teacher conference will be set up
3rd Time Offender: Student will not be allowed to complete the rest of the labs for the year.
- Acceptable lab write-ups are due the next lab day unless otherwise stated. If they are not handed in on time they will be a zero in the grade book but may be handed in for lab credituntil the end of the five week marking period.
- Unacceptable lab write-ups will be fixed during a 9th period set up by teacher and student.
- Keep your area clean!
Reminder: Students need to have the appropriate lab hours logged. If a student falls short he/she will not be allowed to take the regents exam.
Materials needed: pens, pencils, 3-ringed binder, box of dissecting gloves, index cards
