Job Description

EDSC is a rapidly improving and expanding club with more than 300 swimmers at a variety of levels and ages. We are Swim 21 accredited, catering for non-swimmers through to County, District and National Level. The club prides it’s self on being a very friendly club providing opportunities for all members to achieve their full potential.

The Assistant Coach will be responsible for working as part of the existing coaching team with primary responsibility for the A Squad (currently 40 swimmers).

The successful applicants will need to be able to demonstrate:

·A minimum of 2-3 Years coaching experience at the appropriate level
·Demonstrate they have high degree of technical knowledge in all elements of swimming, ideally holding ASA CC Level 2 and / or UKCC Level 2 and be committed to further professional development and qualification, a process, which will be actively supported by EDSC.

·Work as a member of a team and be able to communicate effectively with club members, committee and parents.

·Ensure swimmers are aware of their progress and to maintain effective communication with swimmers and parents.

·Ability to implement, with the Head Coach, training and competition programmes to reflect the needs of all levels of ability focusing on continuing the successes of the Club
·Provide cover for the Head Coach and other coaches where necessary.
·Attend meetings and appropriate training courses where requested by the Head Coach.
·Follow and promote the ASA Child Protection policy.

·Motivate, encourage and develop swimmers and poolside helpers at all levels.

·Adopt and implement a consistent coaching methodology and ethos throughout the club.

Additional requirements:

The successful candidate will need:

To be licensed through the ASA and hold IOS membership/ insurance.

Hold Nationally recognised Pool Rescue qualification (or a commitment to obtain such a qualifications within an acceptable timescale)

Hours: To include daily poolside hours with the A Squad, appropriate poolside attendance of other squad sessions when required, club and external galas and administrative duties. (Approx. 10 hours per week).
A full CRB enhanced check will be required.
