INFORMATION SHEET

Dear Parents

Welcome to The Butterfly pre-school. I hope that you and your child will enjoy your time with us through their early years of education. This booklet has been put together to help you settle in and understand our policies.

All our policies are on our website so please do familiarise yourself with them.

General Information

Some children settle in easier than others and for the first week please feel free to stay for the first 15 minutes to help your child settle in.

Each child should bring with them a bag with the following items; Nappies, a spare change of clothes, wellies. If children are potty training then please do not dress them in dungarees, braces or belts, as it is very hard for them to take themselves to the loo.

During a session we have a routine of structure as well as free playtime. The children get involved with arts and crafts, ICT, drama, music, sports, messy play and outdoor learning.

Monthly newsletters go out via email. These are full of information on what is happening at the nursery each month, promotions, trips or closing dates. All other information is on the parents' notice board.

Each child is given a key worker so they can build a bond with one member of staff as well as being able to track your child's progress.

Messy Monday’s: Every Monday we have a very messy session so please make sure the children come in appropriate clothes that don’t mind getting dirty.

Illness

If your child is absent because of an infectious condition, please notify the nursery immediately. If your child is taken ill during nursery then you will be contacted immediately to collect your child.

Children cannot attend the nursery for 48 hours after being sick or having diarrhoea. If a child has diarrhoea while at the nursery parents will be contacted immediately to collect.

In order to ensure health and hygiene at the pre-school it is at

the managements discretion to refuse admission to any child they do not deem to be well enough to attend or do not have enough information about the child's illness.

If a child comes in with an injury that occurred outside the nursery, we might ask parents to fill in a form so we know the injury didn’t occur at the nursery.

Childcare Vouchers

We accept childcare vouchers as a form of payment. The nursery is registered with many different childcare voucher providers. You can either search for us via our name or our OFSTED No EY465231.

The nursery can register with any provider so if we are not registered with your work childcare voucher provider please give us two weeks notice to do so.

Accident book

The utmost care is taken to make sure children don't have accidents. If, in the unlikely event, a child has any accident, however small, it will be recorded in our accident book and parent/carer asked to sign to confirm that they have been notified.

Every member of staff has their paediatric first aid certificate and receives regular training to deal with any incident.

Trips out

When signing our registration form you allow us to take your child out on trips at any time.

If there is a specific trip planned we will notify parents to enquire whether he or she would like to accompany us.

Food

Please bring a piece of fruit everyday for the fruit bowl, which will be shared around at snack time with a biscuit.

Birthday cakes are allowed to be brought in but please no nuts.

Medicine policy

Staff can administer medicine during your child's stay if a medicine form is filled out. If your child requires medicine because he/she is unwell then we advise that they are not bought in and rest up at home.

If your child has asthma or allergies please make sure you have shown a member staff how to administer them and a form is filled out.

Early Education and Childcare Place

An Early Education Childcare Place (EECP) provides high quality education and care for young children. An Early Education place will provide children with a broad range of knowledge and skills through a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities.

The EEP payments will be made to us the provider at the beginning of the qualifying term and this amount will be deducted from the school fees. It isan amount of money each term that is taken off your bill. A child is eligible for the nursery grant the term following their 3rd birthday.

We have one 2 year old funded place a term and please call to see if we have availability.

Both sets of funding require the nursery to have seen proof of age from a birth certificate or passport as well as signing a form each term to say you have received the funding.
