Extended School Services (ESS)

_x_ Legally Required Policy __ Additional Policy Topic

·  Procedures whereby pupils who have a greater need as determined by eligibility criteria in statute and regulation shall be referred and selected first to receive ESS.

Students determined to have the greater need in the areas prioritized by Reiley Elementary through the Fall MAP, KPREP analysis, and RTI benchmarks will be selected to first receive ESS services. A waiting list will be kept on file of those students not serviced if the demand exceeds Reiley Elementary resources. Students will be selected from this list as services become available.

·  Procedures for parents/guardians to request reconsideration of their child’s identification or lack of identification of eligibility for ESS.

If any student is denied service, the parent will first meet with the building coordinator to request reconsideration of the student/s eligibility. This process will be communicated to any student’s parent/guardian who is denied service. If the building coordinator and parent/guardian cannot resolve the issue, the parent(s) then may request a meeting with the school principal to review the request. If the conflict is not resolved within ten (10) days, then the parent may request a meeting with the district ESS coordinator. Again, if the issue is not resolved within the (10) days, the superintendent may be contacted for a meeting, and finally, if the issue is still not resolved, the Board will make a final decision.

·  Attendance

All students enrolled in ESS will be expected to attend all sessions. Parents/guardians will be responsible for transporting to drop off or pick up their child up for each ESS class (they may be held before or after school). Failure to pick up or drop off the child within 15 minutes of the beginning or completion of ESS on more than 2 occasions will result in the child being excluded from the program.

·  Written criteria for the selection of ESS staff (certified and classified.)

All ESS daytime waiver positions (classified and certified) are posted online through the district employment site. An application process is required for all positions. The Principal may select the daytime ESS employee through an interview process. Priority for employment for before and after school ESS is given to the teachers who are presently employed in that building. ESS staff are not selected by seniority in a school/district or summer program. Communication is made to the Site Base committee on employees chosen for these roles.

·  ESS program types can include but are not limited to the following:
