Vacancy Part-time Nursing Sister
A vacancy has become available at the South African Jockey Academy situated in Summerveld, alongside the picturesque Summerveld Training Centre.
The Academy is looking to appoint a part-time nursing sister who will work in an environment of developing young elite sportsmen and women.
Applicants would need to have a strong sporting bias and an ability to work with adolescents.
Requirements of the post:
Ø Registered Nursing Sister with the Nursing Counsel
Ø Must have a dispensing license
Ø Must be computer literate
Ø Should have the medical expertise to deal with dangerous sport injuries
Ø Valid driver’s license and own transport (a PDP would be an added advantage).
Post Functions:
Ø Provide on site assessment and first aid intervention of all staff and apprentices in work related accidents
Ø Provide Primary Healthcare
Ø Dispensing of medication in terms of legislation
Ø Liaise with medical officer to close the medical legal requirement loop
Ø Co-ordinate all the support staff programmes
Ø Run the concussion programme
Ø Communicate and submit all Workmen’s Compensation Claims with the Department of Labour
Ø Work with the Insurance Broker at the beginning of every year to get the apprentice insurance completed
Ø Co-ordinate the Health and Safety Committee of the Academy
Ø Provide a wellness clinic and emphasis on pro-active health and life style for staff working at the Academy in order to reduce illness and manage existing health issues for staff working for the Academy
Ø Arrange Medical Aid for international apprentices
Ø Will be required to respond to emergency situations and call outs.
