Traffic Management Proposals

Proposed Waiting Restriction on Welbeck Road

I am writing to you to inform you of proposals to introduce waiting restrictions along Welbeck Road.

We are making improvements for cycling across Newcastle and are starting by creating a Strategic Cycle Route from Walker to the City Centre along Welbeck Road. As part of this scheme and wider plans to make the Walker area a safer place for cyclists we propose to introduce some additional waiting restrictions.

The proposals include:

·  Introducing No Waiting at Any Time on both sides of Welbeck Road between Fisher Street and Waverdale Avenue.

·  Introducing mandatory cycle lanes on both sides of Welbeck Road between Fisher Street and Waverdale Avenue.

·  Introducing a zebra crossing on Welbeck Road just to the west of Eastbourne Avenue.

·  Introducing a zebra crossing on Welbeck Road just to the west of Westbourne Avenue.

·  Introducing No Waiting at Any Time on the south side of Welbeck Road between Titan Road and St Anthony’s Court.

·  Introducing No Waiting at Any Time on the north side of Welbeck Road at Philipson Street.

·  Introducing No Waiting at Any Time on Philipson Street at Welbeck Road.

·  Introducing No Waiting at Any Time on Cowen Street at Welbeck Road

·  Introducing No Waiting at Any Time on the south side of Welbeck Road extending eastwards from Scrogg Road.

·  Introducing No Waiting at Any Time on the south side of Welbeck Road extending westwards from Scrogg Road.

·  Introducing No Waiting at Any Time on both sides of Welbeck Road extending eastwards from St Anthony’s Road.

·  Introducing No Waiting at Any Time on the north side of Welbeck Road at Ada Street.

·  Introducing No Waiting at Any Time on Ada Street at Welbeck Road.

·  Introducing a zebra crossing on Welbeck Road just to the east of Renwick Street.

·  Change the waiting restrictions from limited waiting to No Waiting at Any Time on the south side of Welbeck Road between just to the east of Monkchester Road to just west of Creswell Street.

·  Introducing No Waiting at Any Time on the south side of Welbeck Road between at just west of Creswell Street to Allendale Road.

·  Introducing a zebra crossing on Welbeck Road just to the east of Flodden Street.

·  Introducing a zebra crossing on Welbeck Road just to the east of Morton Street.

·  Introducing No Waiting at Any Time on the north side of Welbeck Road between Bothal Street and Gillies Street.

The proposals are shown on drawing numbers SCR1/12012-0008/08 and 09, copies of which are enclosed for your information.
