Communications & Marketing Intern
Zimbabwe Educational Trust (ZET) is looking for dynamic and motivated people to help us with our communications and marketing needs. The role is based at our office in Leeds (and some working from home) and we are looking for volunteers who can commit to at least one day per week (Monday to Friday) for a minimum of 3 months.
Who we are
ZET is a small Yorkshire based international charity founded by members of the Zimbabwean diaspora in 1987. Our aim is to help disadvantaged children to access education across Zimbabwe. In 2013 we were awarded funding from the UK Government’s Department for International Development to implement our flagship project in Bulawayo. We work in partnership with grassroots organisations based in Zimbabwe, believing that local people are in the best position to make positive change happen in their communities. We are reliant on enthusiastic and committed volunteers to help sustain and grow our vision to give young people in Zimbabwe the confidence, skills and experience to live happy and fulfilled lives.
Key Objectives of Internship
We are seeking interns to share these key objectives: to improve ZET’s online and offline communications and marketing so that we can grow our positive impact through managing our website, social media and coordination and creation of newsletters.
Role Description
- Active promotion and development of our social media channels including Facebook and Twitter
- Manage ZET’s website with regular updates
- Identify experts to publish monthly blogposts in line with ZET’s main areas of work
- Produce, distribute & monitor impact of our e-newsletters for supporters and stakeholders
- Review our partner progress reports and promote these through our website and Global Giving
- Manage our existing donors and giving partnerships and help grow our support base
- Reach out to new audiences that would be interested inZimbabwe Educational Trust
Skills and experience needed
- Currently undertaking, or completed, a degree level qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. Digital Marketing, New Media)
- Highly-motivated self-starter able to work on own initiative
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet and Social Media
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to network effectively
- Interest in, or experience of, international development or non-profit sector desirable
- Previous experience in communications desirable but not essential
