Grading Policy

Your final average will be calculated on a total point system. You will be able to receive the maximum number of points listed for each assignment. In the end, your total number of earned points will be added up and divided by the total number of possible points which will give you your quarter average. At any time throughout the semester, you can calculate your grade by using the same procedure. Overall, projects will account for approximately 60% of your grade, tests and quizzes 30%, and class work and participation 10%.

Late Work

All late work will receive an automatic 10% off. For each additional day the assignment is late, another 5% per day will be deducted. For example, 2 days = 15% off, 3 days = 20% off, etc.

Extra Help

Mr. Lein will be available after school every Monday through Thursday until 2:40, except when meetings are scheduled. If you plan on staying after school, be sure to inform the teacher during your normal class period.

Extra Credit

Each time you bring in an article from a current newspaper or magazine covering a topic we are learning about or have learned in this class, you will receive 2 points. You may earn a maximum of 2 points per day. You must find an article, read it on your own time, and then present a brief summary to the class. The article will then be handed in to Mr. Lein with your name on it. Each article can be presented only once, so this is a first come, first served basis.
