DESCRIPTION/OVERVIEW: The Twin Cities Area Transportation Authority (TCATA) is an urban system that covers Benton Harbor, Benton Township, St. Joseph, St. Joseph Township and Hollywood Road Medical Park in Royal Township.

The Executive Director is the chief executive and operating officer appointed by, and reports to the five (5) member Board of Directors of the transportation authority on the productivity and fiscal accountability of the transit system.

. TCATA has forty three (43) full and part-time employees with an annual combined operating budget of approximately $2.5 million. TCATA provides service annually for approximately 200,000 passengers using twenty five vehicles. Operates a combination of demand response service and line haul service.

TCATA is seeking an individual with strong leadership abilities who will be responsible for the management and administration of its day-to-day bus services. The selected individual must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the following key areas of the job requirements; budgeting, planning, managing office, operational and financial personnel, intergovernmental/community relations and public relations. The Executive Director keeps abreast of, and manages, the system in compliance with Federal Transit Administration and Michigan Department of Transportation rules, regulations, and laws. And programs that may affect the operation and management of the system. All interested applicants will be asked to provide reference for his/her qualifications.

TYPICAL DUTIES: Writes grant requests; Administers state/federal grants; Develops and implements operating/capital budgets; assures financial accountability; Work with the Assistant Director in the day to day operations of the transit system; Develops policy; Public speaking; Public

Relations; Attends meetings/seminars; Engages with industry; Represents authority in court when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration/Business Administration.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Valid driver’s license. Can successfully pass criminal background check. Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position is subject to occasional travel.
