The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes tenured volunteer involvement with Houston Grand Opera and the Houston Grand Opera Guild. This award acknowledges the recipient’s ability to be innovative and flexible. The Volunteer of the Year demonstrates insight, organizational expertise and leadership over a sustained period of time. Recipients of this award have been willing to step in and create solutions or meet special needs of the Guild and Opera programs and projects. Because of this volunteer's efforts in a number of initiatives, the Houston Grand Opera has benefited in numerous ways.

The Bravo Award is given to individuals or organizations that deserve the Guild's applause. They may not be members of Houston Grand Opera Guild, yet their singular contributions to the success of HGO Guild or Houston Grand Opera during the year deserve recognition. This award recognizes professional excellence and a dedication to sustaining the very high standard of a progressive, “World Class” opera company. The recipient of this award has demonstrated insight and absolute integrity in their work to support the mission of Houston Grand Opera.

The Crescendo Award is given to a company or organization that has been increasingly supportive to the Guild in reaching its objectives in education and in other Houston Grand Opera programs supported by the Guild. A special award not necessarily given annually, it is presented only when a significant contribution is to be recognized.
