Welcome to “Albert’s Laboratory.” Today we will teach you how to make “Super Soap Bubbles.” The materials required areglycerin(甘油), water, liquid dishwashing detergent, and wire(鐵線). First, make a 50-50 mixture of glycerin and water. Then, add 5 % detergent to a cup of mixture. By the way, the exact proportions (比例) are not crucial because they will not affect the result of your experiment. In other words, you can decide the proportion of the mixture. Third, use wire to make wire frames of different shapes. Finally, dip those wire frames in the solution you have made in the former steps and pick them up. You will see the “Super Soap Bubbles!” Then try to twist your wire frames. What happens now? The bubbles form minimum surface area configurations.

Some audience would ask how these minimum surface area configurations are formed? The reason is the surface tension. It causes the surfaces to form minimum energy surfaces. In this experiment, you can see very cool mathematics and very cool bubbles. Besides, the interference (干涉) of light makes the bubbles colorful. Moreover, the colors will change over time as the bubbles’ surfaces change their width. Try to make your own “Super Soap Bubbles,” but remember-- don't spill it on the rug or furniture. Thank you for watching “Albert’s Laboratory.” See you next time!

41. What is the purpose of the experiment?

(A) Learn about the configurations of the detergent.

(B) How to mix the glycerin and water.

(C) Learn about surface structures that soap bubbles form.

42. What field does “Albert’s Laboratory” deal with?

(A) Literature.

(D) The detergent.

44. What does the word “configuration” mean?

(B) The audience can decide the proportions of their own mixtures according to their preference.

(C) The colors of the “Super Soap Bubbles” will not change over time.
