SEA LIFE LONDON AQUARIUM: KEY FACTS

  • Established in 2009 the SEA LIFE London Aquarium is home to one of Europe's largest collections of global marine life and is the flagship of the SEA LIFE estate
  • Situated on London's vibrant South Bank right in the heart of the capital, the SEA LIFE London Aquarium is a must-do attraction for thousands of UK and international guests every year
  • Guests are taken on an aquatic adventure journeying through 14 themed zones - from tropical rainforests to the freezing Antarctic - laid out over three floors
  • Thousands of creatures from over 500 different marine species dwell in 65 displays containing over 2.5 million litres of water; from tiny seahorses and colourful Poison Dart frogs to giant Japanese Spider crabs, sleek Blacktip Reef sharks, playful Gentoo penguins anda striking Cuban crocodile - a wide cross section of marine life is represented
  • The journey beginson the Shark Walk - a glass walkway on top of the massive shark display - where over 20sharks swim just inches below guests’ feet
  • The Shark Reef Encounter display is the largest in the attraction with giant floor-to-ceiling viewing windows on every floor allowing guests to get face to fin with an awe-inspiring collection of seven species, including majestic Brown sharks, the spotted Zebra shark and a magnificently patterned Bowmouth Guitar Shark
  • The Dive Discoverydisplay is home to a large collection of mesmerising Cownose rays, two giant Green Sea turtles and a large variety of tropical fish; a walk-through tunnel provides a unique underwater viewing vantage point as the creatures swim directly overhead
  • A colony of Gentoo penguins lives in an icy Antarctic themed habitat. As well as seeing these amazing creatures close up in Penguins: Ice Adventure,guests can get a taste of the coldest place on earth through a number of fun interactives
  • Throughout the attraction, expert staff are on hand to answer questions and special talks and feeds happen daily. A range of interactive features can also be discovered enabling guests to learn more about the fascinating marine world, and touch pools allow for one to one handling of starfish, anemones and crabs
  • Behind the Scenes Tours run every day, taking guests "back of house" to see the inner workings of the aquarium and observe the aquarists at work
  • Special feeding experiences are also available - giving guests the opportunity to join the team feeding the turtles and sharks in the VIP Shark and Turtle feeds, and ‘Snorkelling with Sharks’ does exactly what it suggests - enabling guests to submerge themselves in the waters of Shark Reef Encounter and snorkel amongst thesemagnificent predators
  • The SEA LIFE London Aquarium is involved in a range of conservation projects and works with leading charities and organisations from Bite-Back to Whale and Dolphin Conservation, as well as SEA LIFE's own SEA LIFE Trust, to raise awareness and money for key marine conservation issues
