Instructions and Template for creating a print media advertisement

Newspaper and magazine recruitment advertisements for The University of Queensland are wherever possible advertised in a “block advertisement” under The University of Queensland banner. The block advertisement provides an overview of the University and general benefits of working at the University.
The UQ block advertisement also provides generic instructions advising applicants how to apply for the position. The advertisement is structured to direct enquiries through to the University’s job web site
Advertisements that appear within the UQ block must conform to a standard “edited” format. The edited advertisement is intended to provide a succinct description of the position so as to:
(a)Minimise cost to the University;
(b)Provide greater emphasis in the block advertisement to promoting the University as an employer of choice; and
(c)Direct applicants to the UQ Jobs website
To ensure consistency in presentation positions advertised in newspapers and journals must conform with the template below. To use the “Edited ad” template simply replace the “example text” with the text specific to the position being described
Note: If an organisational unit has an executive appointment that is difficult to fill or where it is important to ensure the widest field of high calibre candidates, they may wish to advertise in a “Standalone” format- where a single job will be published in one advert. Ad copy can be longer (similar to online) and should be emailed to the OMC Advertising Office (). Standalone advertisements are primarily used for Senior Executive or difficult to fill appointments where it is important to ensure the widest field of high calibre candidates. This is the most expensive option for print media advertising.
