Title:Statistical Research Support Officer

Job description:

The candidate will work closely with our team of research analysts and associates on all written communications that CSI publishes, while coordinating closely with the Director of Research regarding report and note releases, events,weekly and monthly reports and other research relatedsupport activities.

Key responsibilitiesand accountabilities:

  • Responsible forperformingpreliminary edits and enforcing standards and style guides with analysts and associates to ensure consistency in formatting, style, grammar throughout ourresearch,prior to the Director’s review.
  • Responsible daily for monitoring andupdating the firm’sdisclosure statements via Charts database in Access and uploading to our website monthly.
  • Responsible for updating our entire company universes historical stock prices monthly via Bloomberg and Charts database in Access.
  • Responsible daily for analysing and interpretingCSI published research with the purpose of updating and maintaining all targets and recommendations for analysis via Charts database in Access.
  • Responsible for updating rating statistics monthly on our website via Cormark Database in Access.
  • Responsible for preparingmonthly focus reports for management for shareholder meetings by utilizinga Cormark databases in Access.
  • Responsible for analysing and interpreting financial statistics and other data to maintain CSI universe report for internal analysis.
  • Responsible for monitoring and approving the distribution of Cormark’s research to clients via Bloomberg, Blue Martix, Thomson Reuters and FactSet.
  • Responsible for preparing a weekly synopses reports for our Director’s review. Familiarity withAdobe Dreamweaver isrequired.
  • The candidate will be responsible for covering 5 weeks a year where the working hours will be 6:00am - 3:30pm. This will entail the following responsibilities:
  • Reviewing and ensuringcorrectly suggested edits from our global professional services providerare performed for internal distribution of a draft notes package by 6:30am.
  • Ensuring any other edits the Director requires are preformed promptly as this will determine the publication time of CSI notes and reports.
  • Use personal judgement and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles within CSI’sinternally developed research access and distribution application(Dashboard).

Qualifications and prerequisites:

  • Honours Bachelor's Degree requiredin finance or business related fields.
  • Proven analytical abilities and financial experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge and work experience with business related computer software –Must possess advanced skills in MS Office 2003 and 2010, particularly Excel and Word. Intermediate knowledge of PowerPoint is also required.
  • Database related (MS Access) work experience required.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Dreamweaver is required.
  • Solid proofreading and grammatical skills required.
  • Minimum of 1 year work experience in similar position preferred.

Location of employment and salary range:

  • This position is for a role in the Toronto office.
  • The opportunity is for a full-time, permanent position which includes medical and dental benefits.
  • The salary range for this position is between $40,000 - $50,000 per year.
  • The position is anticipated to be available in September 2015.
