Family Tree Immigration Project

In order to get ready for our 5th grade Immigration Day on Friday, December 13th, each of us will be looking into our own family’s past. You will be developing a 22” by 14” (minimum) poster of your family tree.
Requirements:
- Poster to be 22” x 14” (minimum). Develop the poster in either the “portrait” or “landscape” orientation.
- It is to show at least three (3) generations on both sides of your family to the extent that the information is available. You may go back further if you can and want.
- The three generations are to be BEFORE you. So, your parents are the first generation before you, your grandparents are the second generation before you, your great-grandparents are the third and your great-great grandparents would be the fourth generation before you and so on.
- Each entry is to include a picture of the person, their birth date, death date (if applicable) and their hometown to the extent this information is available.
- You may include interesting facts and information with each person if you wish.
- An objective is to find out from what county or countries your family originated. This information is to be included on the poster in the lower left corner above your name.
- The project is due on Friday, December 6th.
Grading Criteria:
- Does the poster meet the above requirements? - 70 points
- Is this the best work possible or was it put together at the last minute? This area includes items like spelling, grammar and neatness. - 30 points.
- This sheet must accompany your project with your self-grading filled out.
- This will count as a major grade in Social Studies and a major grade in Science.
- There will be a 10-point loss for each day the project is late.
Please do not wait until the last week to try to do this project.
