Job Summary
Olean-Bradford Area YMCA, also known as YMCA of the Twin Tiers is an Association comprised of three branches, Olean, NY, Wellsville, NY and Bradford, PA, serving a combined total of approx. 11,000 members. The Association office is located in Olean near the PA border, approx. 90 miles east of Erie, PA and 70 miles south of Buffalo, NY. The Association culture is based onserving members, building relationships and advancing the mission and is a highly respected organization in the communities we serve.
We are seeking an energetic and outgoing professional who loves meeting people and sharing stories aboutchanging lives. While equivalent experience will be considered, high consideration will be given to candidates withfundraising experience in annual/capital campaigns and/or legacy giving. Good organizational, self-management skillsand the ability to serve asa contributing member of a high performing team is a MUST.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree ina related field or equivalent
- Three or moreyears of professional experience with a background in fund raising in the YMCA, or another not-for-profit
- Ability to relate to top community leaders and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Working knowledge of giving and charitable vehicles a plus but not required.
- Ability to articulate the YMCA’s purpose and how financial support is critical to the achievement of its mission
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Working with the Association’s senior management team, and reporting to the CEO, the Financial Development Director is responsible for, but is not limited to, the following:
- Directs and coordinates $350,000 / 3 branch annual campaigns, growing the endowment and raising capital as needed.
- Serves as primary staff to the (board) Financial Development Committee and the Foundation as well as other assigned committees of the Board of Directors. Develops strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of financial development.
- Develops processes and is actively involved in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects. Cultivates and strengthens relationships with 150+ key donors and prospects.
- Develops systems and manages resources needed to carry out the fundraising plans. Establishes and monitors the financial development department budget for the YMCA.
- In coordination with appropriate board committees, participates in developing fundraising policies and procedures for the association.
- In coordination with support staff provided, tracks all gifts and pledges by source and purpose and provides reports as needed.
- In coordination with the Branch Executive and/or the CEO, provides training in fundraising best practices to staff and volunteers.
- In coordination with the Communications Department, develops communication plans to insure members, participants, and the community understand the case for support. Will provide input for annual reports, newsletters, brochures and reports to be disseminated to internal and external stakeholder audiences.
- In coordination with appropriate association support staff, provide input and guidance to the planning of events designed to cultivate and connect the public to the YMCA in a philanthropic manner.
