Squid Dissection Outline

preserved squid - Loligo pealeii,

Part 1 Squid External Anatomy

1.  On your lab sheet, draw and label the ventral and dorsal surfaces side by side as shown in your lab booklet. Include all labels including chromatophores, dorsal, ventral, anterior and posterior. Add a label for the head and the sucker cups.

2.  Answer questions #1-5

3.  Draw a biological diagram of the sucker cups o your lab worksheet in the space provided.

Part 2 Squid Internal Anatomy

1.  Do questions #6-12

2.  Draw and Label the Internal Anatomy of the Squid including arms, tentacles, eye, chitonous beak, liver, esophagus, gill, stomach, ceacum, pen, reproductive organ, brachial hear, systemic heart, ink sac, kidney, rectum, anus, mouth, grasping arm and sucker cups.

3.  Draw a biological diagram of the radula and the eye on your lab worksheet in the space provided.

4.  Do questions for application #1-5
