Text: College Algebra Essentials, 3rd edition, by Blitzer

Grading Policy: You will be graded in three categories as follows:

Homework: 25%

Exams: 45%

Final: 30%

Homework: Homework will be collected on Tuesdays at the beginning of class. Homework should be neat, organized, and stapled in the top left corner. Not all problems will be graded. Completing the assignment will be part of your grade, however.

Exams: Exams will be held on approximately the following dates:

Quiz on Chapter P: Thursday, August 23

Exam 1 (Chapters 1-2.4, 5.1): Tuesday, October 9

Exam 2 (Chapters 2.5-3.6): Thursday, November 15

Final: (set by the university)Tuesday, December 11

The Quiz is a determining factor to your success. Students who score poorly on this quiz will likely not be successful in class this term. You will be encouraged strongly to drop and sign up for a different class to better prepare for this course.

The Chapter P Quiz will be worth 5% of your grade. Your best exam will be worth 25% of your grade, and your worst exam will be worth 15% of your grade.

No calculators will be allowed for this course. Additionally, cell phones, iPods, mp3 players, personal computers, or other electronic devises will not be permitted during exams.

Make-up policy: Missed exams will be given a zero. If you have a legitimate reason for missing an exam (school-sponsered sporting activity, severe injury or illness, etc.), talk with me and other arrangements may be made.
