Physicals available to be taken at Cy Woods H. S. for $20 (Cash Preferred):

August 1st – Tryouts and 2-A-Days begin

August 4th – Scrimmage, Mandatory Player and Parent Meeting

Special Note about 2017 Tryouts:

Due to the fact that our competition schedule will begin before the start of school, no athlete who misses 2-a-days will be permitted to compete on the 2017 teams unless approved by Coach Ahlfinger. Attendance is required at every practice.

Summer Camp:

For incoming 7th – 9th Grade

A great way to meet the coaching staff, improve on skills, understand the game of volleyball and the importance of teamwork. It is also helpful to incoming 9th graders to learn many drills before tryouts begin!

2017 Schedule:

The 2017 Volleyball Schedule has been posted. Participation in the volleyball program requires your full commitment, and these scheduled events take precedence over club sports competitions.

Volleyball players are required to be at all practices from August 1st through the end of season (October/November). Athletes’ attendance and performance during practices will be taken very seriously to determine who makes the program, on which team, and with how much playing time.

We trust that by providing the schedule early in the year, we enable everyone to schedule their travel and vacation plans to avoid any conflicts/absences. We appreciate your dedication and commitment.

Freshman Tryouts (Overview)

¨  Tuesday morning they will be running one 400, two 200, and two 100 yard sprints that will be timed. (They do not have a time limit on the sprints, we just want them to finish.) They will NOT run on any other mornings, unless they have to make-up runs.

¨  They might want running shoes for the mornings and court shoes for later.

¨  We know that coming in as a freshman can be intimidating. I encourage the girls to just do their best. We are looking for girls who have wonderful attitudes, a team spirit, and the ability to add value to their teammates on and off the court.

¨  If a player is cut from the team, we will help find a place for them in another sport or activity. If they only want to do volleyball and don’t make the team as a player, they may tryout for a manager position. Every child has a place where they add value; tryouts will be an evaluation period to help find that place!

10th - 12th Grade Tryouts (Overview) or any athlete who wants to try-out for JV/Varsity level

¨  WTR (Wildcat Training Requirements)

3x400-yard sprints within 90 seconds each.

Four minutes rest in between.

3x200-yard sprints within 40 seconds each.

Three minutes rest in between.

3x100-yard sprints within 20 seconds each.

One minute rest in between.

¨  You may not practice/tryout until you have completed your running (those within the district that have signed a contract) but you will be required to be at all practices. If you do not make your times but complete your running you can tryout but you will continue to run until the end of Two A Days.

¨  Students who are new to the district will be required to do the running also. We understand that they may not have been aware or properly trained in conditioning. They will be expected to complete the running.
