I am very pleased to welcome you and your child to our Advanced U.S. History Class.
I’m sure that you will discover that this year will present a great opportunity for the advanced students to explore U.S. History in a uniquely different and stimulating manner. Our curriculum is based on the same material that is covered by all other 8th Grade U.S. History classes, but we will be digging deeper and exploring our nation’s origin and developing a better understanding of where we have been, and where we are going.
To keep you informed about my class, and to assist the students, I have created a class website at the following address: www.tbrms.com. I frequently update the website, posting all class-critical information such as class schedules, assignments, and special projects.
My website was created using the weebly.com website generator program, which is free to use.
I would like each of the advanced students to use this program in order to create their own class website. Students will be given assignments that will require them to post their work on their
website so it can be shared with the rest of the class.
I am asking for your permission for your child to create their website. There will be no negative consequence if you do not want your child to participate in this part of our class. Instead they will
be given the same class assignments to be completed in a non-technical manner.
I will provide step-by-step instructions and a list of website restrictions to each student. Student confidentiality will be maintained. In addition, I will frequently review each student’s website to
ensure that the site does not contain inappropriate items.
