Overall Purpose of Job:
To lead a team that delivers the safe and effective day to day operation of the Out of School Club.
Main Responsibilities:
1.To plan the day to day organisation and delivery of activities.
2.To recruit, motivate, train and appraise the performance of subordinate staff to facilitate the efficient and effective operation of the Out of School Club.
3.To appraise officers, facility staff and parents of day to day operational issues.
4.To maintain the highest possible standard of customer care at all times.
5.To undertake administrative duties and including:
a)registration of participants as per guidelines set out in the Children's Act.
b)collection, safe keeping and return of monies.
c)completion and return of accident forms.
6.To use correctly and keep safe facilities and equipment allocated to or used by the scheme.
7.To undertake monitoring and evaluation as directed by the Out of School Club Manager.
8.To implement agreed health and safety procedures and codes of practice.
9.To implement financial procedures in accordance with the Council's Financial Manual of Guidance.
10.To act as keyholder, opening and securing the premises as required.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience Required:
Ability to undertake work consistent with a comparatively basic knowledge and skills requirement, which encompasses a range of tasks involving readily understood rules, procedures or techniques.
  • Experience of working with children in a play/care environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Children's Act and associated legislation.
  • Enthusiasm, energy and creativity.
  • Experience of working in a team.
  • A childcare qualification.

Creativity and innovation are essential to the job and need to be regularly exercised within general guidelines.
Decision Making:
Work is carried out within clearly defined rules and procedures involving decisions chosen from a range of alternatives.
Decisions have a material effect on the provision of service to the public.

Contacts on well established matters providing readily available information or assistance or occasionally dealing with issues where the outcome may not be straightforward.
Responsibility for Resources:
Responsibility for the proper use and safekeeping of large equipment and toys or for the accurate handling and security of small sums of cash and cheques or financial resources.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Demands:
Work subject to interruption to the programme of tasks but not involving any significant change to the programme.
Physical Demands:
Work requiring normal physical effort with periods of substantial effort or normal physical effort occasionally in awkward postures.
Working Conditions:
Work includes significant elements of outside work involving some exposure to moderate noise, heat, cold, disagreeable or difficult surroundings/conditions.
Work Context:
Work potentially involves some risk to personal safety or injury, illness of health problems arising from the environment or public/clients.
