The South East Essex Conservation Volunteers

Who are we?

The South East Essex Conservation Volunteers (SEECV) is a group that is part of the TCV (The Conservation Volunteers) Community Network. It was formed in 1987 to undertake practical conservation projects in South East Essex and has a membership of people who enjoy and want to manage local conservation areas. Since its inception much work has been completed at numerous sites throughout the area. Regular sites currently worked at include Hadleigh Castle Country Park, the National Trust’s Rayleigh Mount, Finches Nature Reserve andLion Creek (Essex Wildlife Trust)in Canewdon and St. Mary’s Nature Area, Shoebury. Typical projects undertaken include both habitat management and creation, together with work that improves access to the countryside (e.g. woodland work, hedgelaying, path/ litter clearance, pond improvement, fencing, kissing gate construction andscrub/meadow management). In fact, a work day could include anything from removing a shopping trolley from a pond, to creating a wildlife garden in a school, building a dipping platform, putting up nest boxes, planting trees or building an island!

When do we meet?
