“Rooted and Built Up in Christ” - Colossians 2:6-10 – 6/12/11 – Dr. David P Craig

How Do I Prepare Myself For False Teaching?

(6) Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, (7) rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. 2. Continually be edified in Christ.

3. Develop convictions about Christ.

4. Ooziate with thanksgiving toward Christ.

What Dangerous Philosophies Should I Be Concerned About?

(8) See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

Guide for Discussion: Colossians 2:6-10 – 6/12/2011

1)The Christian life is compared to a journey (v. 6 and earlier in 1:10 - “walk”). In Ephesians look up 2:2, 10; 4:1, 17; 5:2, 8, 15. What do you learn in these verses about the Christian journey by the image of “walking” used by the apostle Paul?

2)Read 1 John 3:1-3. Focus in on verse two. What do you think the phrase “we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is” means?

3)In what ways according to Colossians 1:6-10 can we be strengthened in Christ-centered thinking?

4)In what ways can you recognize the false philosophies that Christians buy into today?
