2017/2018

Healthy South Derbyshire Locality Funding

Background

Our Sustainable Community Strategy for South Derbyshire is undergoing review (March/April 2017). The Vision proposed is

“a dynamic and caring South Derbyshire, able to seize opportunities to develop and empower successful communities, whilst respecting and enhancing the varied character and environment of our fast growing and diverse district”

The Health and Wellbeing groupcontinues to support the vision and aims of the Community Strategy through the Healthy South Derbyshire Plan through the continuation of last year’s priorities into next year: 2017-18:

  1. Reducing health inequalities across families and young people:
  • In the urban core around Swadlincote
  • In rural communities
  1. Supporting health of older people
  • Supporting home independence, dementia and/or another long-term condition

3. Increasing physical activity

Derbyshire County Council has allocated funds to support the implementation of District Locality Plans. Public Health teams have allocated this funding to the Local Health and Wellbeing Partnershipsin the County, in recognition of their role to support health improvement across local communities.

Improving mental health and wellbeing

This year additional Public Health funding has been shared across localities to support voluntary sector provision of projects seeking to improve mental health and wellbeing. Therefore, locality funding also includes an allocation with focus on improving mental health and wellbeing.
