Initial research and preparation for proposing thesis research topic. The thesis proposalis written when the student and advisor agree on the direction for the researchand that sufficient data can be obtained for the research objectives. / Proposal template (WKB03_1)
Proposal defence: Proposal Defence draft must be given to each member of the Proposal Defence Committee 1 week prior to the defence date. / Forms: WKB 02, 02_1 (Main Advisor’s responsibility), & 03 at leastone week prior to selected date for proposal defence (These forms are required prior to the proposal defence date so that the Department can prepare the defence report forms WKB 04 & 04_1)

*Note: The 2nd member is not required to review the thesis for the student prior to the defence, but some faculty members prefer to be involved at this point.

Publishing:

Before the thesis defence, all students should have a letter of acceptance for publishing. All students must publish a part or the entire thesis. This will in most cases be a part of the thesis re-written in a format suitable for a journal. Payap provides 3 options for students 1) the Payap Symposium 2) the Payap Journal 3) the Payap Graduate Journal. Other publishing opportunities are completely acceptable.

Thesis defence:

Thesis defence: / At the latest 5 weeks before the end of the semester so all of the following processes can be completed within the semester. If not completed you will be charged for another semester’s fees. Check on the e-Registrar website for the official final defence date in a semester.
Make corrections – get them approved by Main Adviser / 1- 3 weeks
Format Check by the Academic Affairs Office / Up to 1 week – required changes must be made and approved
WKB 08.1 (submit with thesis for format check)
Printing of thesis / Up to 5 working days
Submit 3 hard bound copies and 3 CDs (PDF only) to Graduate Studies in Academic Affairs / 4-5 weeks after defence (or last day of the semester)
WKB 08, 09, 09.1 & 09.2; CD cover for every CD
Submit 1 hard bound copy to the department
and 3 hard/soft bound copies for your committee members. If you had a mentor, turn in an additional copy for them. Personalize the copies for your committee as you desire.
Submit 1 CDwith PDF and Word (or Open Office) to the Ling Dept along with all non-Windows fonts used in the thesis.
