President Elect – Kathy Garrison

Greetings Colorado Sisters! Here we are at the beginning of a new year in ESA. I hope you all had a wonderful time at State Convention and had the opportunity to attend IC Convention in Loveland. The Rocky Mountain Region put on an excellent convention with great workshops and lots of time to get reacquainted with sisters from around the country. There were several inspirational moments, especially the decorated Vietnam Veteran who told the story of flying his battered plane to safety with his entire crew saved. Then there was the lovely young lady who attends camp at the Easter Seal Camp every year. Her story brought tears to the eyes of everyone there. She truly is an example of why we work for Easter Seals. As President Elect I will be looking to fill the state board for next year. It is never too soon to consider running for state office. Nomination forms will be in your Chapter President’s handouts at Fall Board and is included in this issue. It is so encouraging to see many new faces on the board this year and I would like to see that continue next year. I encourage each of you to have your name placed on the ballot. You will find that the experience of being an office on the Colorado State Council will enrich your life. There are so many talented ladies in our state, please consider sharing your gifts with your other Colorado Sisters and run for office. If you have questions or concerns about running for office, please give me a call at 303-791-6859.

Epsilon Epsilon Denver Chapter #1896 – Kathy Garrison

Our Mother’s Day Luncheon was held at the Holiday Inn Lakewood this year. There were 18 in attendance. Vickie Chavers-Bruso by far had the largest group of guests. It was a gorgeous day and we all had such a great time visiting. All four members attended State Convention and enjoyed the time together. Kathy Ellingson’s installation was so inspirational. We are looking forward to a year of fun and learning to look at things with a different perspective. JoAnn left for Oklahoma right after State Convention but returned for I C Convention in Loveland. Kathy, Vickie, Joan and JoAnn all attended and were impressed with all the effort that went into the convention. The hotel staff was so accommodating, the food was great and it was wonderful to meet some sisters from around the country. Sherry Day, the new I C President’s speech on Saturday night inspired everyone attending. Our own Sandy Alexander was elected to First Vice President and we will be attending I C Convention in St. Louis to see her installed as I C President 2017-2018. We were thrilled as Kathy Garrison was once again honored as one of the top ten Educational Programs at I C. We will be meeting in August to plan for the upcoming year with Joan Schlaefer as our new President. Vickie Chavers-Bruso as Vice President, Kathy Garrison as Recording Secretary and JoAnn Singley as Treasurer. We will be having a Bunco Party in September to kick off the new-year. Joan and Kathy are working on our annual Holiday Tea to be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 again at the Historical Manor House. Plan to join us this year as we have some surprises in store for all. Invitations will be available at Fall Board in Loveland. Hope to see many of you in Loveland at Fall Board. The Scribe
