FINE ARTS BOOSTER GROUP AWARDS GRANTS TO SUPPORTITHACA ARTS EDUCATION

The Fine Arts Booster Group (FABG), an affiliate of IPEI, has awarded $5,207 in grants to Ithaca City School District (ICSD) programs that will reach 886 students.Grant funds are made possible through Fine Arts Booster Group performance booklet ad sales and donations. The boosters produce performance booklet programs for middle and high school concerts and plays, totaling over thirty events each year.District arts events are open to all, a calendar can be found at or on the district web page.

All secondary schools received Drama Program grants, including DeWitt Middle, Boynton Middle, Lehman Alternative Community, and Ithaca High.Secondary school arts trips will be supported by scholarship assistance.The Josh Endo Memorial Award for the Continuing Support of Music Education (JEMM) was awarded to support elementary instrument rentals and secondary instrumental music trips.

The Saltonstall Arts Colony received support for the annual teacher residency. A special grant was awarded to support students performing an ICSD student’s work at the New York State Schools Music Association conference.

Spring mini-grants supported Ithaca High School visual arts classes with metal work and enameling, digital photography, a LYNDA art and technology program and Beverly J. Martin Elementary School will continue literacy work using dance with artist Lisa Tsetse in their “All in A Day” project.
