About the Homeless Planning Council:

The Homeless Planning Council of Delaware (HPC), located in Wilmington but operating programs throughout Delaware, is an independent statewide nonprofit that works to strengthen the support system for people experiencing and at risk of homelessness. Through collaboration with stakeholders, data collection, and coordination of funding, the HPC strives to create a shared vision to remedy homelessness in Delaware. HPC manages the following programs: Delaware’s Homeless Continuum of Care planning and coordination initiatives, data collection activities including Delaware’s Community Management Information System and annual point-in-time studies, operation of Delaware’s Centralized Intake System, identification of gaps in the homeless crisis response system to make possible the creation of solutions, and public education and advocacy to address the gaps in effective and efficient services available.

Position Overview:

The Special Projects Coordinator will maintain primary responsibility for tracking and analyzing progress on the statewide initiative to end homelessness among veterans.

Responsibilities:

·  Utilize the Community Management Information System (CMIS) – a community database with client level data on homelessness – to collect and analyze data on veterans experiencing homelessness.

o  Manage the shareable master list of veterans that are experiencing homelessness.

·  Convene Veterans Housing Placement Meetings weekly with representatives from the U.S. Dept of Veterans Affairs, the Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF), and other service providers and stakeholders to review the master list and coordinate client services.

·  Develop and run reports to provide information on veterans currently experiencing homelessness in Delaware.

·  Collaborate with partners to ensure adequate data collection.

·  Identify and work collaboratively to address barriers in accessing existing resources for veterans experiencing homelessness.

·  Utilize data to identify gaps in available resources for veterans experiencing homelessness.

·  Participate in planning and coordination meetings at the local and state levels.

·  Promote awareness of the causes of and solutions to homelessness among veterans.

·  Promote best practices in ending homelessness among veterans.

·  Represent the organization at public events.

·  Other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Planning and Engagement or the Executive Director.

Desired Skills:

·  Prior experience with CMIS or HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) a plus, but not required

·  Prior experience with collecting and analyzing data to drive decision making

·  Prior experience with and / or passion for serving homeless populations

·  Excellent oral and written communication skills

·  Ability to build collaborations and partnerships across business, other nonprofit, state/federal government, and philanthropic communities

·  Creative thinking/problem solving skills

Direction/Supervision:

Director of Community Planning and Engagement

Preferred Experience:

·  Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree

·  Knowledge of homelessness and HUD or VA regulations governing the funding of homeless services is helpful

·  Sense of humor, flexibility, and attention to detail a must!
