Plant manufactures plastics (extrusion and injection molding) for regulated industries.

Accountability Objective:

Establish and execute the strategic direction while streamlining and optimizing the entire supply chain (raw materials,production planning, capacity planning and execution, inventory/warehousing, and transportation/logistics) within LS. This position is responsible for developing and executing short and long term business strategy focused on optimizing sales, service, working capital, operational efficiency and operating profit by creating and leveraging the global supply chain plan.

50% / Oversee and optimize all North American Materials Management processes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Implementing and sustaining an enterprise wide sales and operations planning process to establish continuity between the Commercial and Operational sides of the business. Assure all Materials Management processes are continuously reviewed for lean optimization done through value stream mapping and capacity planning and execution. Developing and implementing the necessary processes, procedures, centralization opportunities, and business systems in compliance with internal controls is also required to optimize the supply chain.
30% / Make the global supply chain a key enabler to the FLS-LS business. Act as the key point member to analyze, evaluate, and plan long range strategy to improve the efficiency and performance of the supply chain. This is across all product lines in scope and includes all current and new product launch strategies. This also includes direct contact with customers to develop and negotiate contemporary supply chain strategies that are best practices.
20% / Establish, monitor and act on supply chain metrics and dashboard tools to be utilized to drive business KPI’s. Establish and direct the SG WCM CF&S driving operational excellence using WCM principles. Leverage ERP system locally to best serve the order fulfillment process.
Nature of Scope: The scope of the Supply Chain Manager position is both the strategic and tactical supply chain activities related to the Life Sciences Division.
The Supply Chain Manager must strive to implement WCM methodologies and solutions such as Kanban, Vendor Managed Inventories, Consignments, and Value Stream Mapping of business processes to understand current state and develop/implement future state.
The Supply Chain Manager leads the supply chain strategy for the FLS business in North America and manages the Planning, Order Entry, Inventory/Warehousing and Logistics disciplines to ensure adequate capacity to meet market demand. Attendant to this position is the leveraging of the MRP Systems to optimize the timeliness of delivery and minimization of lead-time and inventory investment.
The strategic activities include developing programs that continue to improve the efficiency of the supply chain from the point of order entry through the various manufacturing locations to delivery to the customer. This position will work to optimize balance between inventory levels and establishing lead times at competitive levels. Also, required is the development of strategies to leverage the global business to reduce material costs and improve the business’ working capital.
From a tactical perspective, raw materials planning and control are key responsibilities that need to be overseen. The incumbent will address raw material inventory issues, as it is essential that the material plans are totally integrated with the production plans.
The Supply Chain Manager provides all functioning production planning and logistics personnel with well-defined policies and practices, which support the business objectives and company internal control doctrine. The incumbent is responsible for the evolution of the staff to continue to improve the analytical requirements needed to allow the plants to improve reactivity to rapidly changing market demands. He/she sets annual and quarterly objectives to support objectives of the manufacturing unit. The incumbent also provides technical support to his/her staff with knowledge of applied statistical and Lean inventory management techniques which are necessary in solving complex stocking problems.
Background Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, preferably Supply Chain is required with MBA a plus.
  • APICS, Certified Purchasing Manager, or Lean Manager Certificationis required.
  • Seven+ years of progressively responsible supply chain management experience in materials/production scheduling, warehousing, capacity planning, and purchasing in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in an ISO and regulated environment.
  • Prior experience in team building and motivational skills is required.
  • Must have strong organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in utilizing MRP (computerized manufacturing systems), in inventory control and forecasting required.
  • An in-depth knowledge of QAD manufacturing systems preferred.
  • Must have excellent math and EXCEL skills necessary to fulfill requirements of the position.
  • Must have experience supervising a team of materials related functions (scheduling, purchasing, packaging, shipping and receiving.)
