After completing two successful consecutive starts as a RODM, PRISONER has now reverted to an ODM horse.

Post-race swab samples were taken from DANCING DA VINCI.

RACE 2 – MITAVITE STAKES – 2200 METRES

Pre-race swab samples were taken from BAROOZA, BILLY KHAN, PARWILL, BALDOCK and BLACK OPS.

DAYS LIKE THIS broke free of interference passing the winning post on the first occasion. Connections have been advised that the filly has been stood down from racing for a period of 14 days and until the completion of two satisfactory trials.

Shortly after the start NETHERBY ROAD hung in and then had to be checked away from FUNDAMENTALIST.

DAYS LIKE THIS contacted a marker peg racing into the back straight on the final occasion.

PARWILL raced rough near the 400 metres.

NETHERBY ROAD which tired over the concluding stages underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a poor recovery rate. Trainer Brett Jaffray has indicated that blood samples would now be taken from the mare. Results of the blood tests showed no abnormalities.

Stewards inquired into the reasons for BAROOZA breaking with 1500 metres to run. After taking evidence from drivers Todd Rattray (BAROOZA), James Austin (BILLY KHAN), Duncan Dornauf (FUNDAMENTALIST) and Ben Parker (NETHERBY ROAD), Mr Parker pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 163(1)(a), the particulars being that he allowed his mare to shift from a position three wide towards a position one off the pegs when insufficiently clear to do so, checking FUNDAMENTALIST which then checked BAROOZA which broke and BALDOCK was obliged to race inside marker pegs to avoid interference. Mr Parker’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of three race dates commencing midnight 5 April 2015 and expiring midnight 17 April 2015. Stewards further inquired into an incident which occurred racing down the back straight and then towards the 400 metres on the last occasion. After taking evidence from the same four drivers it was established that FUNDAMENTALIST (Duncan Dornauf) had on two occasions partly shifted outwards before being corrected and as a result NETHERBY ROAD was obliged to race wider taking BAROOZA out onto BILLY KHAN which was inconvenienced. Stewards were not satisfied to the required standard that Mr Dornauf had a charge to answer noting that whilst the shift was abrupt the shift on both occasion were to a small degree. Mr Dornauf was reminded of his obligations when trailing and when attempting to shift ground.

LIVIN IT LOVIN IT NZ was again fractious before the start on a number of occasions. The gelding has been stood down from standing starts races until the completion of a satisfactory standing start trial and willthen continue to be placed right out of the draw for future standing start events.

Stewards inquired into an incident racing off the back straight just inside the mile. After taking evidence from drivers Grant Hodges (RIVERBOAT JASPER), Natalee Emery (ARDLUSSA EXPRESS) and Grant Campbell (MOTU CRUSADER NZ), Mr Hodges pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 163(1)(a) for causing interference, the particulars being that he allowed his drive to shift outwards when insufficiently clear of ARDLUSSA EXPRESS and as a result that gelding had to be checked by driver Natalee Emery. Mr Hodges licence to drive in races was suspended for two race dates commencing at midnight 5 April 2015 and expiring at midnight 13 April 2015.
